WPS Hide Login: Breakdown

WPS Hide Login is a simple and effective WordPress security plugin that can be used to lock down the WordPress login page to prevent the public from accessing it. This plugin essentially changes the URL address of the admin login page so that it cannot be found or accessed by anyone other than the registered administrators. The plugin also has other features to help keep sensitive data on the WordPress site safe from prying eyes.
Once the plugin is activated, a new login page URL is automatically generated which can be customized by the user. This helps ensure that the original login page is not traceable or even guessed for potential attackers. A special ‘password protect’ feature can also be activated to further protect the login page with a password. The password protection requires both the username and password to be entered before users are allowed to access the login page.
For added protection, the plugin also offers the ability to disable XML-RPC. XML‐RPC is a protocol that enables third party applications to access WordPress sites remotely, making it a potential security risk. The plugin has the option to disable any remote access and thus ensures that WordPress sites remain secure.
Furthermore, the plugin also has the ability to block nonexistent user agents and disallow directory browsing. This prevents crawlers and search engine bots from scanning the WordPress site. It also blocks any requests for nonexistent URLs, thereby preventing any malicious scripts from executing on the WordPress site.
