Public Post Preview: Breakdown
Public Post Preview offers two robust features for content managers. First, it makes it simpler for WordPress users to collaborate on posts by allowing editing privileges to be granted to specific users or user roles. This way, people can work together on posts from start to finish without duplication of work. Second, Public Post Preview enables users to create drafts and previews of posts without the posts appearing on the site at all. This allows collaborators to review a post, make changes, and preview while only showing the fully edited final version to the public.
The entire workflow for post creation and collaborative editing is straightforward and convenient. To create a draft post and share with a collaborator, users need only select the “Create Draft” button. All collaborators can review and make changes to the draft, which will then appear in the list of drafts for further previews. When the draft is ready to be published, users can click the “Publish” button and it will appear in the post list.
Public Post Preview offers a couple of extra features to make collaborative editing more efficient. All drafts created with the plugin will appear in the WordPress “Comments” section, where collaborators can rate and comment on drafts without having to leave the page. And for users who do not want to risk a third-party plugin, Public Post Preview also offers a “Secure” option which enables user roles to be set for each collaborator, ensuring that no one can view a post before it is intended for release.
